History:
Blaine was the original Cinnabar Island Gym Leader. However when Cinnabar Island started filling up with tourists and not serious trainers, he closed down the Gym and started a hotel. However he still left a gym open inside the Volcano on the island in case any serious Pokémon Trainers come.

After he shut down the gym, he decided to keep an eye out for serious trainers by giving out riddles if they are here for a Gym Battle than for the resort. Anyone who managed to solve the Riddles can battle him for the Volcano Badge. Eventually Ash & Co. worked out the riddles and Ash battled him... twice.

Blaine won by forcing Ash to forfeit to save Pikachu's life from Magmar's power. However, the rematch happened after they stopped the volcano from going thanks to Team Rocket's stupidity... Magmar VS Charizard. This time, Ash won thanks to Charizard.

And now... a few months later... these strange creatures come along...
