"!?" She looked stunned at that, and stared at the Pokegear. It was indeed superior. "...i.it can't be...I saved up for weeks for my cell phone...and it's obsolete?!"

"Look, let's not argue semantics here, alright?" At that point, Elm had finally set three Poké Balls on the table. "I have starter Pokémon here for you to choose. It's the usual three from the region, so choose whichever you'd like." Giving each ball a tap... ...and in three flashes... ...the three Pokémon appeared, looking up at their potential trainers gleefully.

@koury@ He can't believe it was just a few weeks ago he was here to pick up a starter pokemon, now he guess it would be Lyra's turn.

"I don't think that kind of technology exists in our world, Mizuho. The sort of thing I saw in that last town and in the Pokemon Center was something like out of a sci-fi movie." Then came the starters. Shirou looked them over, "Wow... This is incredible..." "Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile, huh...?" Emerald looked them over with a chuckle. "This is gonna be a difficult choice... All three starters are well-balanced."

So much excitement burned through her veins, that she brushed through Emerald to get a good look at the Pokémon. "Oh wow!! Just look at them! I can't choose!" Smiling, she covered her eyes and performed the ancient Meeny-miney-mo technique. "Eeny minnie miney mo!" Swinging her pointed finger left and right... "And my mother told me...to...something-something---not-not-IT!" And her hand stopped at Chikorita. "You're the one!"

"Mm, but my cell pho...oooh!" She smiled at the starters too. "They look so adorable!" Yeah, easily distracted today it seems.

"Totodile!" Koury's pokemon waved to his fellow Totodile.

With a small squeal, she approached Lyra happily. "Good choice." With a small smile and a nod, he picked up her Poké Ball and handed it to Lyra. "Take good care of her, now."

"Geez... No need to be pushy," he said, stepping up with a smile, "So it's either the fire-type or the water type, huh...? Alright, I choose... Totodile! Water-type it is!" However, Shirou was ignoring this and looking at Cyndaquil. There was something about the little fire-type that attracted his attention. Fire normally gave him horrible memories of five years ago, but this was... Different.

Giggling, she was busy hugging her new Pokemon.

She looked over at Lyra. "That's a pretty good pick. I think she's the cutest of them all." She smiled.

With a small hum, he handed Totodile's Poké Ball over to Emerald. "Make sure to treat him well."

"I will. A trainer can't get a Pokemon to listen if they treat them badly, anyway," Emerald remarked. "... I'm curious. How does one become a trainer?" "H-Huh...?! You're interested in becoming one?! But you said you don't know anything about Pokemon!" That was out of left field, as far as Emerald was concerned. "I don't know why... I just, well..." He looked at Cyndaquil again. There was something about that little creature he felt an affinity with, and he felt taking care of the little guy would at least be a good deed... But he also wondered what kind of power Pokemon had. If this Cyndaquil could control fire...

Zipping beside him, "Is it because the fact that, if what you said is true, that you may need a Pokemon of your own in order to survive this world? After all, police, and even their mothers, keep telling kids not to go in tall grass without a Pokemon. My mom keeps telling me that all the time. Why this one time..." Yes, she'll go on for hours.

"You seriously can't go on in this world without a Pokemon?" She blinked and looked aside. "I hope that means Raul and Fiona will be ok..."
